Precorp Offers Diverse Carbide, Coated Carbide and PCD Solutions

Precorp offers PCD, Solid Carbide and Coated Carbide engineered cutting tool solutions. Competency in these material areas makes Precorp a total solutions provider. This allows Precorp to supply the best cutting tool material for any application.

The Perfect Solution for Automated Drilling Processes
Automated drilling processes require the highest quality cutting tools that can provide the longest possible life. Precorp proudly offers PCD, Solid Tungsten Carbide and Coated Tungsten Carbide versions of combination drill countersinks for automated drilling processes.

Combination drill countersink tools are effectively applied in drilling all air frame materials including aluminum, CFRP, titanium and stainless steel as well as any combination of those materials. The combination drill countersink tool provides the highest possible quality. With high accuracy and proprietary coolant delivery, this family of tools offers the best option for ‘one shot’ drilling in air frame material.

The combination drill countersink simplifies the tool management process by eliminating modular tool systems and always insures tool accuracy by eliminating variances introduced by the modular systems. In addition, PCD tools and Solid Carbide tools are easily reground multiple times to allow for the lowest possible cost per hole.

The Carbide Combination Drill Countersink tools can be applied in drilling CFRP, Aluminum, CFRP/Aluminum and CFRP/Titanium.

CASE STUDY
Single-Flute Countersinks

Hand countersinking is a common operation in air frame assembly.

Single-Flute Countersink Advantages:
1. Diamond cutting edge allows multiple re-sharps.

2. Carbide pilot is more durable than steel, maintaining the tool’s accuracy longer.

3. Single flute creates a more accurate radius.

4. All specifications and dimensions are custom per customer’s requirements.

5. Lower cost than multi flute styles.

THE POLYCRYSTALLINE DIAMOND (PCD) PROCESS

PRECORP’s PCD process is the method for making unique shaped diamond edges which enables the creation of innovative diamond tooling solutions for common and special problems.
STEP 1
A carbide blank is slotted and filled with diamond powder.
STEP 2
The carbide blank is inserted into one of Precorp’s high pressure, high temperature presses and subjected to 2,700º F and 876,000 psi. In this process the diamond powder is compressed and the diamond crystals are bonded to each other and to the carbide blank.
STEP 3
The PCD nib is then brazed to a solid carbide shank. The braze is located sufficiently away from the tip of the tool to avoid any potential thermal damage. This allows the use of a high temperature high strength braze joint between the nib and the carbide shank.
STEP 4
The drill geometry is ground to produce the finished PCD tool. This patented process allows for many tool geometries that are impractical and/or impossible using conventional PCD insert processes

IF YOU HAVE A HOLE GENERATION PROCESS OR A FUTURE PROJECT, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF PRECORP’S EXPERTISE AND HISTORY. WE WILL CUSTOMIZE A SOLUTION THAT WILL GUARANTEE THE RESULTS YOU ARE LOOKING FOR.
